متن کاملTHE PHOENIX DEEP SURVEY: A Deep Microjansky Radio Survey
The study of the nature of faint radio sources is of great importance since a significant fraction of these objects is thought to be composed of actively star-forming galaxies. Due to the increased sensitivity of radio telescopes, we are now not only able to catalogue large numbers of these sources in the sub-millijansky regime, but also to start the study of the nature of increasingly fainter ...
متن کاملDeep images of cluster radio halos
New radio data are presented for the clusters A401, A545, A754, A1914, A2219 and A2390, where the presence of diffuse radio emission was suggested from the images of the NRAO VLA Sky Survey. Sensitive images of these clusters, obtained with the Very Large Array (VLA) at 20 cm confirm the existence of the diffuse sources and allow us to derive their fluxes and intrinsic parameters. The correlati...
متن کاملDeep Field Surveys - a Radio View
I present an introductory review text, focusing on recent deep field studies using radio telescopes, including high-resolution, widefield VLBI observations. The nature of the faint radio source population is discussed, taking into account complimentary data and results that are now available via the sub-mm, IR, optical and X-ray wavebands. New developments regarding the increased sensitivity of...
متن کاملDiscovery of Radio-loud Broad Absorption Line Quasars Using Ultraviolet Excess and Deep Radio Selection
We report the discovery of five broad-absorption-line (BAL) QSOs in a complete sample of 111 ultraviolet excess (UVX) QSO candidates also detected in the NRAO VLA Sky Survey. All five BAL QSOs, which include two high-ionization BAL QSOs and three low-ionization BAL QSOs, are formally radio-loud. Of QSOs with z > 0.4, 3±2% show low-ionization BALs, and of QSOs with z > 1.5, all radio-loud, 9±5% ...
